Important Update for Our U.S. Customers
Effective August 29, 2025
At Size4ShoeShop.com, our mission has always been to bring stylish, high-quality footwear at fair prices to customers in both Canada and the United States. We value transparency with our community, which is why we want to explain an important update that affects the price of orders shipped to the U.S.
Why Are Prices Higher Now?
Beginning August 29, 2025, the U.S. government suspended the long-standing de minimis exemption, which previously allowed imported goods valued under $800 to enter the United States duty-free.
This change means that all imports—no matter their value—are now subject to duties.
As a result, international carriers require sellers like us to ship under a Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) model. This means we must pre-pay duties and customs fees on behalf of our customers, and those costs are now reflected in the final checkout price.
Our Commitment to You
We know this change came quickly and has been unexpected for sellers, carriers, and especially for our valued U.S. customers. Please know:
- The new duty costs are not additional fees at delivery. The checkout price you see already includes shipping, duties, and clearance.
- Please note that in the case of returns, duties are non-refundable — any approved refund will cover only the product price excluding duties.
- Customers do not need to handle customs paperwork when their package arrives in the U.S.—we take care of clearance in advance.
- We remain committed to offering affordable, fashionable, and well-made shoes, even as policies shift.
- If U.S. customs regulations are revised again—for example, if the de minimis exemption is reinstated or adjusted—we will immediately reflect those changes in our U.S. pricing.
A Brief Background on the Policy
- In 2016, the United States raised the de minimis exemption from $200 to $800 per shipment under the Trade Facilitation and Trade Enforcement Act (TFTEA).
- This meant that imports valued under $800 could enter duty-free, without extra customs paperwork or surprise fees.
- The policy greatly benefited U.S. households and small businesses, saving billions of dollars each year by allowing access to affordable goods from abroad.
- In 2025, the U.S. government announced the suspension of this exemption, and the change officially took effect on August 29, 2025. As a result, all imports—regardless of value—are now subject to duties.
Thank You for Understanding
We understand that higher prices are never welcome, and we share in your frustration at how quickly these rules have been implemented. Still, our promise remains the same: to make small-sized, high-quality footwear accessible, transparent, and reliable for every customer.
Thank you for continuing to support independent businesses like ours during this period of adjustment.
